Sunday Scroll is a weekly download of whatever caught my eye—no agenda, just a curated mix of thoughts, links, and musings from the past week. Light, digestible, and perfect for the digital hoarder in all of us.
Daily Headlines That Stuck →
(Here’s what you might have missed this week.)
Upcoming Substack Read(s) →
I’ve been ‘away’, and got nothing. I’m catching up, but tell me about any of your latest and greatest reads on here.
What I Couldn’t Stop Thinking About → I’m so happy to be back from what I’ve been dubbing as my self-imposed Substack summer vacation. Essentially, just a chance to take a break from my inboxes and downloads (tldr; my digital self) and wrap up some of the more metaphysical things I’ve had on my back burner this spring/early summer. I also have been sitting in awe and appreciation of the powers that be, and that the universe is always listening. I guess when you actually ask, you will receive. After my last Substack on my dreams and desires (or lack thereof), I received 3 back-to-back “downloads” that left me scrambling to turn my thoughts into tangible actions, and I’m so excited to watch as some of those have already begun to actualize into real life. To love something and be so deeply excited for it is unlike any other feeling. I hope everyone gets a chance to experience that.
Artists On My Mind → I’ve been a long-time fan of the artist Inès Longevial, whose work I first came across in 2016 or 2017, and steadfastly followed through to the present day. I’ve had the chance to see her work once before, back in 2019, a series of small-scale portraits, but I would love to check out her current NYC show up at the Almine Rech Tribeca, which appears to be a mix of smaller pieces and larger ones. It’s very pleasing to see how wide of a following she has amassed since I started following her.
Open tabs (98) → I’m not proud of how many Amazon tabs I have open…
I know we’re at the peak of summer, but I keep looking into facial peels to get rid of this last bit of stubborn hyperpigmentation. This week’s research was on the Cosmelan Peel.
Adult classes for learning Korean (from K-Talk)
‘Haider Ackermann slouch top’
“Where to get a DEXA Scan in NYC?”
“Does meat turn brown in the fridge?”
‘movies based in Nebraska’ for Alexis
I got my first Sonny Angel packet because it was NYC-themed, so I had to, and I pulled this little dog rabbit creature, which I was not too sure about. But I’ve since learned it is a super rare angel, so I guess I am pleased. I was googling to find out just how rare we are talking ($$$).
Something I Bought, Something I Didn’t →
Indulgence → Until July 15, all ice cream and frozen treat products are half off at Whole Foods. Yes, I bought six to leave at my parents. I can’t be trusted.
Self-Restraint → For like all of 5 minutes, I convinced myself that I needed a Hulken rolling tote bag to use as my stylist bag for shoots. However, my feelings swiftly changed after I saw a few reviews about them being ankle biters. There’s nothing like dreading moving a bag or case because of the ankle biting. I’ll stick to suitcases for now.
Media Diet → I’ve been micro-dosing Love Island, by way of Hailey and Erika, but something from my watchlist that I streamed with the girls this weekend was Kpop Demon Hunters, an animated movie from Netflix about hot girls fighting hot boys to save Seoul. It was so cute. I loved every little bit of it, especially the main song, Golden.
Parting Thoughts…
I’ve come to learn that when you’re doing work for a job you love, it doesn’t make the work itself easier by any means. It’s actually just as hard or harder, in my opinion. But, it’s that much more rewarding, too.
I’m 2 lessons into my driving classes, y’all. The start of my lessons still makes me super nervous. I have to remind myself that the silliest person I know can do it, so surely I can too (right??). Pray that your girl is officially licensed by the end of the summer.
My youngest brother has finally graduated from high school, and I’m so just so happy! If you know what a journey this has been, then you get it.
Once upon a time, the 4th of July was genuinely my favorite holiday. Nothing said joy like the perfectly charred glizzy by my mother and the neighbors across the street with the illegal fireworks. We’ve come a long, long way from those days, sadly.
I'm working on the launch of some things in the coming weeks, and I’m so excited to share them with everyone. Start brushing up on your globe trivia now.
Pouring another glass out for girlhood. God bless.
Happy happy happy to be home. See you next week.
